Music Video / Pixx - A Way To Say Goodbye

Biography PIXX is 19 year-old Hannah Rodgers, a young songwriter from the rural climes of Chipstead, just beyond South London. Before adopting her new moniker – inspired by a nickname of her grandmother’s – Hannah appeared with a dreamy debut in the form of ‘I Wake’, snapping up praise from the likes of The Line of Best Fit who talked of her “sweeping instrumentation and breathy, hypnotic vocal,” and Blah Blah Blah Science who called the track “the most perfect summertime-at-the-beach dream you don’t want to wake up from”. Now she’s back with ‘A Way To Say Goodbye’, a track that was born, beautifully, from a misheard Cocteau Twins lyric, the repeated chorus of ‘Alice’ in their song of the same name evolving into Rodgers’ refrain "I miss the lonesomeness, I miss...” and eventually becoming her own hazy musing on greediness in love. "Shouldn’t it be easy,” she breathes over discordant guitars and woozy beats, making it sound just that, almost effortless. A musical magpie, Hannah lists everything from Aphex Twin to Joni Mitchell as influences, her off-kilter electronic folk compositions and sharp lyricism inspired by muses as wide and diverse as Dylan and Donovan, American poet e e cummings and the magic realism of Watership Down, via Stephen King novels and Art of Noise... it’s a heady concoction.
